What if one day you can no longer handle the things that you usually do? As people age, the need to plan for long-term care should be a priority. People ages 65 and older will most likely require long-term care. Long-term care describes an array of services that are provided to those who aspire to have continuous well-being and respect, despite their decline in physical and mental health. It is a service required to meet an individual’s personal care needs in an extended time. While long-term care involves medical care, still, most of its services associated involve assistance with “activities of daily living” (ADL), which includes, but are not limited to:
- Bathing and Grooming
- Medication management
- Meal preparation
- Grocery shopping
- Transference and ambulation
Long-term care services can be of different types. It can be through private home care services, community support services, and facility-based services.
In private home care services, the provider will provide in-home care services to the clients home through its staff or agents—caregiver, nurse, home health aide, and therapist. As a home health care provider, we provide direct care to our clients that include nursing services, personal care tasks, and companion sitter or sitter tasks.
Examples of community support services are adult day care centers and transportation services. While in facility-based services, they can provide care through nursing homes, assisted living facilities, board and care homes, and continuing care communities.
